Not Just For Knowledges Sake
Our hope is that what you learn in the classroom will be applied across all areas of life. When we know more about who God is and what He expects of us as His disciples, the more that our desire to share His love with others will grow as well.

Bible in One Year
|
|
Cover2Cover
San Diego Community Bible Church (CBC) has encouraged its members and attendees to read through the bible together chronologically in one year.
We completed our first year at the end of July, 2010 and started again on September 1, 2010. The teachers at CBC Bible Institute (CBCBI) created this group to supplement and encourage this program. We meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30pm to 7pm in Room 700 in order to present insights on the current readings from the Biblical text and to answer any questions that may have arisen in the minds of the participants.
We usually start with a devotion by one of the faculty, followed by two or three other presentations or lessons by others of the faculty, on a rotating basis.

Christian Foundations Class

Foundations Class
Our gracious Lord wants you to mature in your faith, not just get older in your faith. If you're tired being a mediocre Christian come join the Foundations class Sunday mornings from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, but come expecting an adventure, not just getting to know more.
Do you think your gracious Lord is satisfied with your effectiveness in His Kingdom? Would you say your faith is victorious? This class lays a foundation for an effective and victorious faith, an adventure as you walk with the God of the universe. The Foundations Class will help you to use the resources God provided you for your growth to maturity: understanding your salvation, your identity in Christ, the Word of God, prayer and fellowship. The class will help you with the trials and temptations of life, and how to present yourself to God as a living and holy sacrifice, allowing Him to be Lord in every way. The class will also help you to understand the Holy Spirit and the Trinity. The Holy Spirit will provide you with everything you need, just come with a willing spirit. Come expecting to change, knowing God's joy in you as you lay a deep and abiding foundation for the years to come.
Ephesians 4:15
Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.

Systematic Theology Class

Systematic Theology Class
Beginning March 4, and continuing on for at least a year, we are starting a Systematic Theology Class on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-3:00, taught by our Bible Institute Faculty. We are planning on covering over 50 topics of Bible doctrine. What does the Bible actually teach and how does it all fit together? It is important that you sign up for the class in order to receive access to supplemental materials. We are using Wayne Grudem's "Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine" as the textbook.
Here is a description of Wayne Grudens book "Systematic Theology": The Christian church has a long tradition of systematic theology, that is, studying theology and doctrine organized around fairly standard categories such as the Word of God, redemption, and Jesus Christ. This introduction to systematic theology has several distinctive features: - A strong emphasis on the scriptural basis for each doctrine and teaching - Clear writing, with technical terms kept to a minimum - A contemporary approach, treating subjects of special interest to the church today - A friendly tone, appealing to the emotions and the spirit as well as the intellect - Frequent application to life - Resources for worship with each chapter - Bibliographies with each chapter that cross-reference subjects to a wide range of other systematic theologies.

The Minor Prophets 1 Alive
|
|
Minor Prophets 1 Alive!
Minor Prophets 1 Alive! is a course that will investigate the many riches of the first four books of the minor prophets during the spring quarter. The class will be on Mondays beginning April 9th.
The theme of the Minor Prophets is the newspaper of the future for either Israel or Judah or for both as it relates to the judgment coming in 722 BC to Israel, 586 BC to Judah, and in the Day of the Lord for both. This newspaper includes everyone on earth, from the tribulation period to the second advent of Christ to the Millennial Kingdom. Judgment is coming to all who reject Christ and blessing is coming to all who have a personal relationship with Him. In Minor Prophets 1, we deal with Hosea and Amos (prophets to Israel primarily [at the same time]), Joel (a prophet to Judah primarily), and Obadiah (a prophet to Edom). Each prophet prophesies of the blessing coming to Israel in the Millennial Kingdom and of the judgment of all nations during the Second Advent of Christ. New light is thrown onto the future for all of us in Minor Prophets 1 as well as our present day life. Many applications are drawn from these four books of prophecy that fit our shoe leather in 2012, such as living as if the night is coming soon when you can no longer witness, living as a Christian 24-7, being taught by your heavenly Father how to walk in His path for your life, and learning effective ways to witness. Minor Prophets 1 Alive! is a course that will investigate the many riches of the first four books of the minor prophets during the spring quarter.
