Ministry:
John and his wife, Hortense, joined the ABWE in 1972, then went to Bangladesh in 1974, where they worked at Memorial Christian Hospital until 1992 when they "retired" and returned to the USA . They have since made six trips back to Bangladesh to assist in the medical and audiovisual work there.
Six years ago they moved to Marysvale, Utah , a strong Mormon area, where they now assist in the ministry of Marysvale Baptist Church. They are also helping to set up, and expect to be actively involved in the Eagle’s Nest Baptist Ministry, which will be a Christian Conference Center and a Boy's Ranch Ministry. Construction of the building is now in progress, directly across the road from their house. Another project is putting the program "What does the Holy Bible teach about God's plan for man?" into multiple foreign languages.
Pray:
Please pray that the Lord will continue to send able workers to help in the Eagle's Nest Baptist Ministry. Pray for finances to complete the building and begin the Boy's Ranch part of the ministry. Pray for openings to witness in this Mormon community - at present they are establishing credibility through their art work and other involvement in community activities.
Personally, please pray for their oldest son, Peter, age 53, who is completing his nursing training at Bob Jones University.
Please pray for helpers to assist their son-in-law and his wife (their daughter, Chrissa) in their complicated ministry of running a horse ranch (the horses are used in the Utah Independent Baptist Camp - UTIBICA), pastoring Marysvale Baptist Church, serving on the board of Northwest Baptist Missions, assisting with the work of the Christian Vocational Ministry here in Marysvale, and getting Eagle's Nest up and running.
And pray for the continued health and stamina of both Hortense and John (they are now 80 years old) so that they might continue to be able to help in these ministries. (Updated: 6/29/07)
