Pastor Emeritus Gene French
Pastor Gene had a desire to reach the Mira Mesa-Scripps Ranch area with the gospel of Christ and in 1984 he saw that desire become a church, growing from a handful of families in aliving room to to a vibrant church of over 150 by the late 1990's. The values CBC is built on, Biblical Authority, Loving Others, Community, Giving, Reaching Others for Christ, Worshipping God and Spiritual Growth, have been rooted in the life of Dr. French through years of faithful service, Bible study and leadership.
Pastor Gene turned the reigns of CBC over to Pastor Barry in 1997, but he is still an active participant in the growth of the church and of our members. He pastors the weekly venue Heritage Chapel, and shepherds the members who attend that service. Heritage Chapel offers traditional hymns, a choir and orchestra, a weekly fellowship breakfast and an atmosphere that hearkens back to an era gone by. Pastor Barry's weekly sermon is shown via video on the big screen, and he in fact stops by for a special visit each week for a personal word of encouragement to the folks at Heritage Chapel. Heritage Chapel is located in CBC East, just across the cul de sac from the main campus. You can find Pastor Gene serving there, continuing his vision to reach the community for Christ, each Sunday morning at 9:00 am.
