1 John 5:13-15 “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”
Dear CBC Family,
I had a great blessing this week as someone who doesn’t come to the church came into the office to talk about some personal matters. They said they did not know why they had come but by the end of our conversation they had received Jesus Christ as their savior. That is the reason God brought them here!
I just love when the Lord does all the work and brings people to himself. It never ceases to amaze me that power that is in the word of God if it is just simply and faithfully given. Our job is simply to hold out the word of life and get out of God’s way. We spoke about hell, judgment, God’s wrath, Jesus’ atonement and His perfect life. We discussed repentance and trust and the Lord opened blind eyes and deaf ears, granted repentance and gave faith. I got to witness a miracle. I am sure we both left that day rejoicing. Keep your eyes open in your own life for those divine appointments and always be ready to give an answer. Do not worry about how the person will “receive” it just give the truth in love and see what God will do.
Once a person is a true Christian we now become co-heirs with Jesus of all of the promises of God. As I was reading 1 John this morning and thought I would remind you of one of the great promises in it.
The first thing God wants you to “know” is that you have eternal life. This is certain, unshakable, unchangeable and an unspeakable blessing. This means God is now your God and will answer EVERY prayer that asks according to His will. This means that it would do all His children well to know His will so they can ask Him for those things.
This weekend we will be exploring the implications of what it means that God is our God. I believe you will be amazingly blessed and leave full of assurance. I counted 43 uses of that concept throughout the Bible and we will glean from all of them what this truly means to us in our lives today. All I can say is WOW!
Remember that Saturday after church is a meeting for the members to sign off on the statement of faith. This is a requirement from the by-laws and is required to retain membership. If you cannot make the meeting that is not a problem as we will have the forms at both services and you can sign them and give them to one of the elders. You can read the statement of faith online which was already unanimously approved by the congregation months ago. I can also email you the form if that works best for you.
Lastly, since the verse above speaks about receiving whatever we ask according to His will I wanted to invite you to the weekly prayer meeting that takes place on Fridays at 6:45 for an hour. You can come and leave anytime during the meeting so if you need prayer then come and let the saints pray with, and for, you.
Ps 144:15 “Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!”
Agape to you my brothers and sisters,
